I had an excellent time catching up with everyone tonight at the San Diego Style Weddings Magazine “Spring Fling” launch party held outside at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. It was a perfect evening for an outdoor event on the Aragon lawn with “lemon & lime” lanterns above. Some of the best San Diego caterers provided an assortment of amazing food. There were around 400 top San Diego wedding vendors in attendance so it was difficult to make it around to everyone. I bumped into many “old” friends and also had the pleasure of meeting a few new vendors. It is an honor to be part of such an amazing industry!

Concepts Event Design held an excellent “Grand Opening” vendor party to celebrate the opening of their newly remodeled studio. Thomas Bui Lifestyle hosted the evening and helped orchestrate the event. It was an amazing night with many top vendors from the wedding and event industry. Tonight I was honored to be invited to attend the Exquisite Weddings Magazine 2010 Release Party that was held at the San Diego downtown University Club Atop Symphony Towers.

I have done a few weddings at the University Club in the past and this location has some of the best views of downtown! There was a great mix of top vendors, as well as, brides/grooms.

I bumped into one of my past couples Lauren & Byram. Their wedding is featured in this issue so it was really exciting for them to view it on the pages of a magazine! I am glad that I was able to be a part of it and make sure they were well taken care of. If you pick up a copy of the recent magazine their wedding is featured on page 52 through page 55.    Enjoy!

This month’s N.A.C.E. meeting was held at the beautiful Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego. In the photo you can see some lighting I have done for the Westgate Hotel in the past.

In addition, they support the mission, tenets, programs and values of Slow Food USA. They seek to inspire a transformation in food policy, production practices and market forces so that they ensure equity, sustainability and pleasure in the food we eat.  “Slow food” is an idea, a way of living and a way of eating. It is a global, grassroots movement with thousands of members around the world that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment.

Kris & DJ Kool in Vegas

I was fortunate enough to attend the 2010 National DJ Conference in Las Vegas again this year. It is a week of seminars and training on how to constantly keep improving what we do as DJ’s, master of ceremonies, entertainers, and businessmen. This year’s seminars seemed to lack the depth or unique content as compared to years past. No matter what it is always inspiring and motivating regardless of how great (or bad) the seminars are. I will admit there are all sorts of DJ’s attending from around the country… many of them I would never want to hire if I was a client. I don’t know where they crawl out from but I will leave it at that   I picked up a few key items at the seminars, bought some new equipment, and attended some parties they hosted. We had Coolio, the Sugar Hill Gang, and DJ Kool (“Let Me Clear My Throat!”) all perform at the parties. DJ Kool was a really down to earth guy and was fun to watch DJ a set of classic hip-hop to close out one of the parties. It was also a great chance for many of the San Diego DJ’s to get together as friends and have some fun away from work.
